Yelm entrepreneur Jeremy Bernier connects skilled trades and local retail innovation

YELM, Wash. — Jeremy Bernier is building two service businesses from the South Puget Sound region: Nerd Plumbing & Drain, based in Yelm, and MODRA, a retail delivery startup founded in the same community.

Nerd Plumbing & Drain serves homeowners and businesses with plumbing repair, drain cleaning, water heater work, and emergency service. Its work depends on skilled technicians, clear communication, and dependable scheduling across Thurston County and nearby communities.

MODRA addresses a different local need. The platform is designed to help shoppers find products at participating nearby retailers and receive purchases through a coordinated delivery network. Eligible orders may arrive in as little as 30 minutes; timing depends on inventory, retailer participation, driver availability, distance, and order conditions. MODRA is also integrating Savvy, an AI shopping and order assistant designed to help customers discover products suited to their preferences.

Bernier is a U.S. Navy veteran who built Nerd Plumbing & Drain around precision and accountability. His experience running field service work informs MODRA’s focus on the operational details between a customer request and a completed delivery.

The two businesses have distinct customers and services, but share a home in Yelm. Both reflect Bernier’s commitment to solving practical problems in the communities where he works.
